One of the things I was very eager to experience when it came to blogging was the chance to work with brands and to try new things. When eShakti reached out to me and asked if I wanted to review their custom ordering process, I was thrilled. I immediately scoured their site for a dress and found this houndstooth shift dress and knew that was the one.

I’m actually pretty terrible at dressing up. It’s not that I don’t enjoy dressing formal or that I don’t understand the concept, it’s just I don’t do mornings. So if I have to dress nice for an event or for work before the hour of 2pm… I probably won’t do it right. I just can’t get my outfit, make up and hair all in order that early. My brain just doesn’t function that way.

Anywho, that rant was pointless and now I just want to get on with it and talk about this dress! eShakti’s shopping experience is a little different. Once you pick out the dress, they allow you enter your exact dimensions AND pick a custom style if you want.

For example, instead of choosing the “as shown” option, you can change the sleeves to be three quarters’ length or long and you can even change the length of the dress from mini to mid-calf.

I decided to leave the style as is. I liked the length and sleeves just fine so instead I customized the size. I imagine that process to be easy if you’re a grown up with the proper measuring tape, but I only one that was 12 inches long. Therefore my poor roommate had to help me bend and measure the different things I needed and we had to do a lot of estimating.

Funny thing is I got a free normal-sized measuring tape just three days later at a wedding expo…

Regardless of my lack of tools, I got the dress ordered and it shipped, and it was delivered to my apartment door very quickly.

My overall feelings about the process was that eShakti provides an easy and relatively inexpensive way to customize clothes. You can skip the tailor and order exactly what you want in exactly the right size!
