5 things to wear to a bridal shower

5 things to wear to a bridal shower
the outfit for the bride

Heyyyy, I’m back. Maybe. I hope so.

I took an involuntary hiatus do to a massive amount of things. It’s been insane. New York is crazy in the best way and so is planning a wedding. Both are exhausting and frustrating and I wouldn’t change either.

Anyway, I’m attempting to get back to it, because I have always loved and needed a creative outlet so why not. Hopefully, ya’ll will support me and pretend to like my posts 😉

I have decided to start with what’s on my one-track mind: bridal showers! My mom, maid of honor and a few other lovely ladies have been working hard on mine and it’s this week. It’s in two days, and I just can’t wait. I’m so excited to reunite with so many of the ladies I hold dear and to frolic around in a white dress. *Side note: you need a LOT of white dresses when you’re engaged*

Planning what I would wear to all these occasions (bridal shower, lingerie shower, rehearsal dinner, etc.) has been fun but occasionally confusing. I thought maybe I could help any other confused brides or attendees. I’ve done a lot of research (aka Pinterest) on the situation therefore I feel semi-equipped to share this information.

The trick to a bridal shower, in my opinion, is to conquer a very specific in between formality. It’s not quite sundress casual, but it’s also not quite cocktail dress formal. It’s perfectly in between which is what makes it both hella confusing and versatile.

You can definitely rock either a sundress or a cocktail dress, but the accessories and your hair/makeup combo are what will set it apart and make it daytime-evening appropriate.

You can really play with the boundaries, but just make sure to be comfortable. It’s not a “sexy” sort of occasion, so just dress for yourself. Loose waves and relaxed dresses (think chiffon maxi dresses) are perfect. I’m not always into girly-girl looks, but I definitely feel bridal showers call for it.

When it comes to shoes, you can don heels or nice sandals… it’s really whichever you feel best in.

Whatever you decide, decide ahead of time and be on the look out as soon as you know when it will be. Maybe it’s just me, but picking the perfect occasion-specific dress is always quite the feat. Don’t stress yourself out by starting the search the week of… especially if you’re the bride.
